Completed the
construction of the Shepherd Gateway Sign.

Funded the
construction of and fees for Blue Logo Signs on Hwy 59 which highlight local
businesses.

Shepherd ISD FCCLA Culinary class 2009-2010.

Scheduled two
appointments monthly with Bob Barragan of the SHSU Small Business Development
Center.

research for obtaining and
operating a Radio Station for San Jacinto County (ongoing).

Highlights:
"Two new “boosting” Power Plants have been built and two Manufacturing
facilities, PetroTech Energy & WyVac Wastewater & Industrial Maintenance opened
employing about 12-14. Other new businesses are Dynamic Structures, IGS
Environmental, and Beretha Shava Bookkeeping Service. A Tire Shop and two Flea
Markets opened on 59 N. A new Automotive & Diesel Service will be open within
the next two weeks; and coming soon: a Bakery & Grocery offering all Sugar Free
products. Both First State Bank and People’s State Bank have a new fresh face
lift. Mr. Cantu installed a beautiful fence and landscaped the vacant lot at
Four Corners to help beautify the area. Such projects encourage economic development and we are grateful to
these business owners for that assistance."
- 2010 Activities on the Horizon: "Current
EDC goals are to erect a new sign in front of the Community Center for the EDC
and Chamber of Commerce; possible consideration to remodel the Center; and
continue to actively seek new businesses for the area. 2010 promises to be a
good year for economic development with completion of the US 59 extension,
increased traffic flow and rapid growth moving toward Shepherd from the South."
